Week 2

I made waffles from Wade's Mill Shenandoah Waffles mix, containing flour, cornmeal, buckwheat, baking powder, and salt. I didn't have any buttermilk, so I used regular milk. Darien and I bought the mix when we stopped by Raphine on the way home from a minibreak at Douthat State Park in southwestern Virginia. The waffles were nutty and scrumptious, but very filling.

This was Peter's last day home with us over his winter break. We had a hard time getting him out of the house.

  1. add a tiny bit of lemon juice or vinegar to milk and let it stand for 10 minutes. the acids will curdle the milk leaving you with .. buttermilk!
