Week 4

I went to dinner at Palette's restaurant in the Denver Art Museum with Arnold. In the restroom, Arnold and I discovered that the sinks sang "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" as you washed your hands. Not only that, but the sink on the extreme left has a low, male voice, and as you move from sink to sink, the voice becomes higher and transitions to female. Arnold did a very good job of putting his hand in each sink down the line until he had a nice round going.

Week 3

I went to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., for the first time. Oh yeah, Antonia was there too, with Jonathan Vassar and the Speckled Bird. The highlight was watching them perform. The second highlight was not having to walk around the Mall in subfreezing weather looking at port-a-potties, bleachers, and bunting in advance of the inauguration. We ate dinner at the Tabard Inn with Kim and Katheryn after the performance, then hung around the room a bit, toasting with champagne. We had a large room together with J. and A. It would have been fine if D. didn't snore so loudly. I may ask for a private room next time.

Week 2

I made waffles from Wade's Mill Shenandoah Waffles mix, containing flour, cornmeal, buckwheat, baking powder, and salt. I didn't have any buttermilk, so I used regular milk. Darien and I bought the mix when we stopped by Raphine on the way home from a minibreak at Douthat State Park in southwestern Virginia. The waffles were nutty and scrumptious, but very filling.

This was Peter's last day home with us over his winter break. We had a hard time getting him out of the house.

Week 1

Instead of going to the gym today, I went out to brunch at Lulu's with Darien, Antonia, Jonathan, Gabriel, Peter, and Marissa. Actually, I would have also gone to the gym if I had realized what the plan was. I was up early enough, but no one else was to clue me in.

I let Peter drive my car. Does this make me any wiser in 2009?
